Megaverse viewer — browser & VR controls
This is a short intro in the usage of out VR browser for VR-3D scenes.
Two ways in: an ordinary web browser (desktop/laptop, mouse+keyboard) and a
VR headset (Quest, via the browser’s “enter VR” button).
On-screen UI (both modes, drawn by the page)
Top menu bar (desktop):
| Element | Action |
|---|---|
| Logo (left) | Megalithic Visions home (/) |
| ⌂ | Back to the scene list (index.php) |
| Name · description | Current site |
‹viewpoint› → | Jump to the next saved viewpoint |
? | Open/close the full menu |
Full menu (? button, or press M): a top-down 2D map with clickable viewpoint markers, a viewpoint list, and tappable PgUp/PgDn (height) and Z (debug) controls.
Debug overlay (press Z): triangle / vertex / draw-call totals, each object’s current LOD and distance, active exclusive zone, and head position.
In a web browser (desktop)
| Do this | Control |
|---|---|
| Look around | Left-click + drag the mouse |
| Walk (relative to where you look) | W A S D or arrow keys |
| Move forward / back | Mouse wheel |
| Teleport | Click a spot on the ground |
| Raise / lower eye height (±0.5 m, remembered) | PgUp / PgDn |
| Change viewpoint | Top-bar → button · map marker · list · M |
| Full menu / debug | M / Z |
| Home | ⌂ icon (scene list) · logo (site home) |
Touch devices: drag to look; use the on-screen buttons for viewpoints and height.
In VR (Quest)
Enter with the headset/goggles button (bottom-right of the page). Then:
| Do this | Control |
|---|---|
| Look around | Move your head |
| Teleport-move | Aim a controller at the floor → a teleport arc appears → release on the target (blink-controls) |
| Previous / next viewpoint | Left thumbstick left / right |
| Open/close the VR menu | Trigger or grip (either controller) |
| Use a UI button | Point the laser at it and pull the trigger |
| Aim / select | Controller laser pointer |
The VR menu is a small panel that appears ~1.5 m in front of you and faces you.
It shows the site name + current viewpoint and two buttons:
- HOME (blue) → back to the scene list
- NEXT (green) → next viewpoint
Viewpoints re-apply on entering/leaving VR, so eye height is correct in both modes
(eye-at-viewpoint in the browser, floor-under-viewpoint in VR).
Indoor / detail (exclusive) zones
Some sites have a chamber interior that only shows when you go inside. Walk (or
teleport) into the zone and the exterior mound, ground horizon, and other objects
hide so you see just the chamber; step back out and the full site returns. This is
automatic — no button. Sub-chamber detail (LOD) sharpens as you get close.
